Simmons celebrated at funeral

Mourners from near and far solemly filed into Bethel AME Church last Saturday to pay their respects at the funeral of Master Sgt. Shawn E. Simmons.

Simmons, and three other members of the Army's 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) out of Fort Bragg, died June 29, on active duty in Afghanistan, when a vehicle they were riding in rolled into a canal at Khosrow-E Sofla.
